CRAZY!!!

So I’m officially working at ACU full time now. Woo…hoo. Not my first choice but it’s hard to complain. Aaron and I have good jobs with benefits and our hours are the same so we get to see each other in the evenings. Hopefully next summer we’ll be moving somewhere new!

My family is coming in this weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing them a lot and to show them Aaron and I’s apartment.

Back to work for a sec, it has been a madhouse. I feel like I’m constantly surrounded by packages and letters. It will be nice when the craziness settles down and when all the freshmen remember their mailbox combinations.

Aaron and I were in a wedding this past weekend. I was a little nervous about how it would go but everything went great! We danced a lot which was a BLAST! The ceremony was wonderful, my speech was lame but was totally me, the food and the cake were yummy, and the couple was finally together and very happy. I was pretty emotional all weekend with all the memories that came rushing back. It was so fun having all our old friends back together again. I also enjoyed making new friends. It is nice that we have no more weddings as of now.

This post was all over the place but that’s me for you!

PS   So excited about Viva Pinata 2 coming out next week…yes, I’m a nerd :)

Sigh…

I found out yesterday that I didn’t get the job at the hospital because it was filled by an internal candidate. Since they had taken so long to contact me I had already kinda figured I didn’t get the job but hearing her tell me still made me feel disappointed. So I’m going to take the mail room job at ACU. It’s not what I want at all but there are some things about it that are better than the job at the hospital would have been like better hours and better pay. It’s hard to complain though, at least Aaron and I both have fulltime jobs with benefits. Our time in Abilene is only temporary though. Hopefully this time next year we’ll be moving somewhere new!

Other than that, Aaron and I are in a wedding this weekend. It will a crazy weekend but it will be fun too! After this weekend we’ll be done with weddings for a while so that will be nice.

Life is good :)

Things I Would Like To Do In the Next Few Months

There’s been several things that I’d like to start up now that I have more free time plus I’ve been wanting to explore new things to do.

1. Start a container garden on Aaron and I’s little patio. I know it’s probably not the best time to start one but I could grow some herbs and/or hardy flowers probably.

2. Finish decorating the apartment. Hopefully this one will get done soon!

3. Make or buy a slipcover for our love seat and papasan chair.

4. Read more!

5. Organize my recipes.

6. Cook more fun things outside of dinner.

7. Take more pictures!

I know these things aren’t the most exciting in the world but I am kind of nerdy and I’m excited to pursue these :)

Weekends

I absolutely love weekends especially now being married and not having school to occupy my mind even while I’m trying to relax. Aaron and I like to relax and take life easy but still get some things accomplished like cleaning and doing laundry.

Today we went back to Trinity Baptist and had another great church experience. Their pastor was great and had a challenging message for the church. We are going to go to the young married’s sunday school class next week. It’s been literally years since I’ve been to a sunday school class. 6th grade was the last time I believe.

My interview with the hosiptal went very well. I met the lady who would be my boss and she is really cool. She seems approachable and wants to help in any way she can but she did mention that she is anal about people being on time to work which I agree with. This week I’m supposed to meet with the lady who has the job right now and talk with her. I really hope that everything will work out and I can be offered the job.

My sister Kimmy is coming back to Abilene tomorrow and I’m really looking forward to seeing her. We’re both hoping that we can spend more time together this year.

The Olympics have been on the TV ever since the opening ceremonies Friday night and Aaron and I have enjoyed watching them. In a little bit, gymnastics are coming on and that is my favorite sport of the summer Olympics. I’m excited to see them! Athletes amaze me and it is quite inspiring to see what they accomplish during the Olympic games. It will also be interesting to see what headways these games will make between China and the rest of the world.

By the way, the pork roast the other night didn’t turn out to be good at all. I think it was a combination between not high quality meat and a not very flavorful recipe. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

Lemonade

When life throws you a lemon, make lemonade.

Looking for a job has been stressful and difficult. There’s just not many jobs for a biochemistry major in Abilene. I’ve applied several times to the hospital but hadn’t heard anything. I’d even called to check on my resume, left a message, and never heard back. My boss in the mailroom offered me a full time job today and I was having a hard time convincing myself that it would be ok to work there full time when I got a called later  today from the hospital about a job.

There are pros and cons to both jobs and as my mom said, it seems like no matter which way I go, I wouldn’t have made a mistake choosing that job. I don’t know what to do. It’ll be nice when Aaron gets home and I can see how he feels.

In the oven right now is a pork roast with potatoes. I checked it a few minutes ago and it’s still not done. I hope it turns out ok.

Life is amazing. Who knew I’d get a choice in where I want to work for the next year or so? It’s nice actually. I feel better getting a job offer outside of the mail room.

I can’t wait for this weekend!

First Attempt

Yesterday was a wonderful Saturday.

I didn’t get out of bed until 11:45am which was amazing. The last time I did was in high school or maybe once in college. Basically the rest of the day was spent relaxing, watching TV, reading, and enjoying life with my hubby.

Aaron and I hung out with our friends, Brad and Amanda, at their house. We brought dessert and although it took me a while, I finally found a yummy recipe for peach cobbler. It actually turned out really good except the peaches weren’t as flavorful as I had hoped. I’m going to let them sit in some sugar for a while before I cook them in the cobbler next time. I can’t find the recipe at the moment but I know I got it off of the Martha Stewart website. The recipes on her site are amazing every time!

We had a blast hangin’ out playing Halo. I actually wasn’t as bad as I usually am.

Today we visited the third church in our church search. So far, it’s the one we like the best. Their pastor was out of town today so we’re looking forward to going back next week to hear him speak. There was this one older man who was friendly and welcoming to us. That makes a big difference when you are visiting a church for the first time. I really hope that this church is the place for us because I need some new friends since a lot of mine have or will be moving away soon. Plus it’s important to have a church home where you can get involved. Aaron and I both know that we need involvement in a church and it’s apparent that we haven’t had that in a long time.

I’m going to go read!

My First Blog Entry

I decided while being bored to tears at work today that I will finally jump on the blogging bandwagon. I’m not the greatest writer in the world but it will be fun to have somewhere to write about whatever I want especially since I’m in a not-so-much-journaling phase of life.

A few things about me:

I love to cook, sleep, read, watch TV, read, surf the Internet, hang out with friends and family (especially my hubby!), and most recently, listen to NPR. Another fun thing about me, I am a newlywed just shy of being married for 2 months. Being married is incredible and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I just received my social security card in the mail so I’m offcially a Wilder now!

Aaron and I are going out to one of our favorite places tonight, Red Lobster, yum! Then we are going to Books-A-Million because we’re both nerds and love to read. I’m wearing a new dress I bought from Target. Target is the best! We’re both looking forward to tonight very much.

This wraps it up for my first entry. Hopefully there will be many more to come.

Oh yeah, it’s Friday!!!!!
